Sledding

This winter has been full of sub-zero temperatures and snow.  But, unfortunately, we have had few days that have been nice enough to go outside and play in the snow.  Today was one of those rare days and we thought we'd take advantage of it before the next wave of arctic temperatures descend on us again this week.

Some friends of ours invited us to join them for sledding at the elementary school which is just across the field behind our house.  We thought it was no big deal to walk across the field to the school....it's not that far after-all!  So we loaded up the boys on the toboggan and away we went.  Everything was fine and dandy until we met the tree line that divides the school from the field.  When we got there we found ourselves in almost waist deep snow!  After some struggling we finally reached the school.  The boys had it easy of course and got a nice easy ride the entire way :)

But it was all worth it for some sledding fun!

Christian taking it all in!

Charlie enjoyed watching the plow push the snow around in the parking lot

Easton and Claire decided to sled down the hill together!

A little push....

....and away they go!!

Tyler decided to go down after them to help them back up the hill :)

....Chris decided to help too

Christian and Charlie loved going down the hill on the sleds.  They're taking a break here.

Chris and Tyler tried the steep hill made by the plows....

They had fun trying to stay on the sleds :)

The hill was some tough work getting back up....

So Easton had to take a break

These boys love being outside....but they were getting tired

Our attempt to get a picture of all the kiddos....Charlie was in my arms ready to go home.

Thanks Minters for the great sledding morning!!

Easton Turns 3!

Happy birthday Easton!  Yes, our big boy turned 3 on January 9th.  Man, how time flies!!  We had a little party amongst our family of 5 and it couldn't have been a better night.  We asked Easton what he wanted for his birthday dinner a few days before his birthday.  His response.....beans.  When we dug a little deeper (because this kid usually doesn't eat beans when we give them to him) he clarified that he meant JELLY beans!  Well, when he wouldn't give us any other ideas we decided to have Tyler pick up pizza on his way home.

Pizza, followed by a few jelly beans (who can deny a boy a few jelly beans on his birthday?!), then presents followed by cake, of course!!

Easton got a hotwheels race car track, extra cars and a new winter hat

Easton didn't want to try it on right away so Charlie volunteered to be our model!

Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting made by mom

The boys devoured their cake

It must have been warm in our house...everyone has rosy cheeks

Charlie being the ham he is...always has the funniest expressions

This boy loved his cake.  Can you tell?!

They all had fun setting up the new car track....

And then playing with it!!

Yes, they are all sitting on the table.

Don't worry....no children were harmed while shooting these photos!
