Swimming!

Monday marked another exciting first, but this time just for Easton.  Our little man started his very first swimming lessons!  I took Easton while Tyler stayed home with Christian and Charlie.  I was a little worried about what Easton would think when we got to the pool.  Sometimes he is very oppinionated and strong-willed and if he doesn't want to do something it's tough to reason with him.

When we arrived we saw some friends of mine who were just getting done with their kids' swimming lessons.  As we stood outside the pool chatting Easton tugged on my arm and said "Mom let's go!"  Ok, so he was ready to go in the pool.  We said our good byes and proceeded into the pool area.  The instructors were not ready to start quite yet so Easton and I grabbed a bench and started to get ready to get in the water.  As we sat there waiting Easton repeatedly asked "go in water, mom?" or "ready to swim."  I had to remind him several times that the teacher was not ready yet.  As soon as we met the teacher and other kids/parents in our group we were instructed to have the parents get in the pool first and have the kids sit on the side waiting.  Easton was a little more than excited to get in the water.  Soon enough, the kids got to get in too.  And I must say, I am extremely lucky to have a child who was all smiles and giggles after getting in the water.  The other 3 kids in our group all cried and screamed for most of the class.

Since Easton was having so much fun and was so eager to swim the teacher used him as a guide for what she wanted the parents to do with thier kids in the pool to get them used to the water.  All the while Easton was having a blast and was all smiles!  Of course, his favorite part was jumping in from the side.  Once he got the okay from the teacher, he never wanted to stop!

Now, I must say this course we're enrolled in really isn't much of a lesson on how to swim.  It's more of just a session to get the kids used to the water and be comfortable in the water.  It also gives the parents some tips on how to make it more relaxing and enjoyable for the kids if they're having a hard time liking the water.  At our pool they don't let kids attend swimming lessons without a parent until they are 4 years old.  So, until then, Easton will have fun kicking around and jumping in!  We are starting off with a 2 week lesson that we attend every day.  We'll see how it goes to determine if we should sign up for a second session this summer or not.

First day of Swimming Lessons!
